Kids' Activities
{Craft Festival Passport} Craft Festival Passport
We're launching a new project called Craft Festival Passport. It gives each interested child a map of the show and has some challenges to keep them engaged in the event such as exploring handmade crafts, listening to live music, watching the kettle korn demonstration, getting their face painted and more.
{Distelfink Artisans} Distelfink Artisans Project booth
With a stencil from theorem-painter Sandra Jean Coldren, kids can draw a pumpkin and then use paints and markers and colored pencils to add their creative touch the seasonal icon. Maybe other projects to be announced shortly. Face Painting with Rebecca
Kids of all ages can have their face painted by air brush! The beautiful designs that are brought to life by Rebecca are creative, and very distinctively individualized. Have an idea of something you want? Just ask. With stencils and other techniques let her paint your face through a strong imagination and a lot skill. $/face.
Live Music
Acoustic Roadshow Musical Entertainment will be provided by the Acoustic Roadshow, which helps local musicians. The mission of the Acoustic Roadshow is to provide opportunities for musicians to perform in front of live audiences. This format gives novice musicians valuable experience and exposure, and seasoned performers venues to try material and hone skills.
Martin Family Band
The Martin Family Band brings new energy to the Celtic Music and Dance scene, featuring Irish and American fiddle tunes, along with numerous Irish step dance routines. The band revolves around the fiddling Martin sisters, Emily, Melissa, and Christy, along with their dad, Nelson, and brother, Brian, on guitars; mom, Elaine, on bass; and drummer Earl Pyles. Their younger brother, Zach on fiddle, joins in this lively band winning the hearts of any audience. Tin Kettle
Tin Kettle is a Pennsylvania-based trio specializing in the dance music and songs of Ireland, played on fiddle, tenor banjo, guitar, concertina, tin whistle, five-string banjo, and mandolin. All three members are veterans of the Pennsylvania folk scene. The group features the vocals of Matthew Ward, a regular performer for Philadelphia Ceili Group activities. Matthew's extensive store of material includes songs by some of Ireland's finest contemporary songwriters as well as songs from the deep tradition. John Winship and Sharon Sacks, aside from their Irish playing, have long experience with American Appalachian music: Sharon currently plays banjo with Ladies in the Parlor, and John played for many years in the West Orrtanna String Band and the Orrtanna Mountain Steamers. You can hear this southern mountain influence in some of Tin Kettle's arrangements.
