Wood Turning Basics :: Sept 25 & 26

{Wood Turning Example}

 
On Saturday students will learn to use a spindle-roughing gauge, parting tool, skew, and spindle gauge. After practice he/she will design and fashion a dry flower arrangement holder, and an end-grain cup. Sunday students will use a bowl gauge to design and make a plate and a bowl. Each student will have the use of a lathe, tools, and face shield.
The instructor, Ed Youtz is a retired high school teacher who has been turning for 10 years and teaching turning for the last 5 years. The mode of instruction will be demonstration and coaching with the emphasis on students turning wood. At the end of the weekend, students should be able to safely turn spindles, plates, and bowls on their own. Only 4 spaces available, act today.
 
*$20 material fee payable to the instructor at the time of the class provides all needed wood blanks.
