The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen is the nation’s 7th largest craft organization and only all-craft association in Pennsylvania. The Guild strives to preserve the practice of craft and pass it on to the future generations through education and community engagement while supporting and promoting excellence in working craftsmen through exhibitions, retail opportunities, professional development and continued education.


 Job Title: Membership/Event Manager

Structure: The Membership/Event Manager is a 32-hour/week position and reports to the Executive Director. Flexible schedule but preference is Thurs-Sun.

General Duties: The Membership/Event Manager works closely with the Designer Board, Standards Committee and Executive Director to provide quality Fine Craft Fairs, uphold organizational craft standards, oversee the Master Artisan program and develop/manage a growing membership program.

General Responsibilities:

      Craft Fairs:

  • Create production schedule & budget for all fairs, focusing on increasing revenue and decreasing expenses. Perform cost/benefit analysis of fairs, identifying and suggesting changes when necessary
  • Work with vendors and provide onsite management for all shows
  • Administer post-fair evaluations and prepare monthly show reports for Executive Director and Designer Board

      Standards:

  • Work with Standards Committee to establish Craft Guidelines, manage Master Artisan program, Floor Jury and Peer Critique

      Membership:

  • Solicit new membership while building strong relationships with chapters, members
  • Responsible for processing and acknowledging memberships
  • Produce monthly membership reports for the Executive Director & Chapter Presidents
  • Work with community partners to add new member benefits
  • Work with Joint Chapters Committee to plan and execute Chapter Retreat and annual Member Gathering

      Misc:

  • Plan and develop all membership and chapter materials and all fair collateral. Responsible for writing, image collection and print coordination
  • Assist with organizational events including Open House, First Friday events and special events
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years event experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and design software
  • Self starter and independent worker
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong ability to multi-task
  • Team player with proven interpersonal skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Membership or fundraising experience preferred
  • Experience working in non-profit arts organization
  • Arts background

Special Abilities: Ability to be trained on the job quickly and keep a positive demeanor under a sometimes stressful work environment with an ability to multi-task and adapt to an evolving organizational structure.

Compensation: $12-14 per hour based on experience

Job Title: Marketing and Merchandising Manager 

Structure: The Marketing and Merchandising Manager is a 32-hour/week position and reports to the Executive Director. Flexible schedule but preference is Wed-Sat or Thurs-Sun.

General Duties: The Marketing and Merchandising Manager works closely with the Executive Director to manage all marketing efforts for the Guild and overseeing merchandising for the Guild Store.

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop cohesive marketing plan for all Guild programs
  • Work with staff to produce materials as a way to reach program goals
  • Work with vendors to design and produce all printed materials for the Guild’s fine craft fairs, education programs, fundraising efforts and the Guild Store
  • Write all press releases and develop relationships with local media outlets
  • Develop plan for and manage all social media including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter
  • Design basic marketing and promotional pieces for the Guild
  • Write for, recruit contributors and oversee the Handmade in PA blog
  • Work with the Store Manager to promote featured crafts person each month
  • Work with Store Manager to develop appealing and effective merchandising
  • Work with contractor to keep Guild website updated
  • Gather information, layout and manage list for monthly eblasts
  • Keep up with new trends and opportunities in retail merchandising, social media and advertising
  • Assist with organizational events including Open House, First Friday events and special events
  • Preparation of monthly reports for Executive Director
  • Other duties as assigned
