Skill level: open to all skill levels
What types of book construction will display your gorgeous paste decorated or marbled paper to best advantage? Diane will lead students through two construction
methods that feature collage and various forms of paper decoration:
Tunnel Books
Students will create a “Collage Canyon” tunnel book, a series of pages attached to a concertina spine that decrease in size to give a telescopic or peep hole view of the entertaining back page. They’ll learn several ways to enhance this and other fascinating tunnel book structures with paper decorating and collage techniques.
Flag Books
The flag book holds surprises between its covers. When the book is opened, narrow flag-like pages pop out from an accordion-folded spine. Students will explore the genre, as they learn several ways to personalize and embellish their books with collage and various forms of paper decoration.

- scissors
- metal-edged ruler
- X-acto knife
