When it’s cold outside and you’re thinking about Spring… make some art with flames! This workshop will give you a basis for creating glass beads on a torch. Shop maintenance and safety will be covered. Students will primarily be using borosilicate glass, the new material on the block that allows for beautiful swirls of color. Students will make basic beads, shaped beads, patterns, and learn different ways of applying glass to get different colors.

This class is designed for anyone interested in glass. If you have experience and want more skills, there will be a chance to develop individual projects.

Materials: A $40 supply fee is included in your tuition. That covers a materials kit of glass rods, frits, bead release, and mandrels. There will be the option to purchase additional colors and types of glass by the rod if you would like. If you think you might like to purchase additional glass during class, please bring cash or check.

Supplies:  If you have any bead presses or other tools, feel free to bring them to class. Everything needed for class will be provided, however.
