Saturday, 9 am – 12 pm

Pennsylvania Guild Center of American Craft, Lancaster  (Directions)

Instructor: Lisa Gallagher
Skill Level:  No experience necessary

Learn the centuries-old technique of Paper Filigree, also know as Quilling.  Students will first be taught how to use a couple different tools to make a variety of basic shapes.  Then they will be able to further practice making some of those shapes by creating a decorative medallion design which will be glued to a cardstock background, ready for framing.

Materials fee: $10 payable directly to the instructor at the time of the workshop covers plenty of paper for both practice and the project, the tools needed for the technique, as well as use of some other basic supplies during class.  Several color options (solids or mixes) will be available.  No additional materials are necessary.

Lisa Gallagher is a jewelry artist and craftsperson working out of her home in Ephrata.  Practiced in a wide variety of crafts, she has been doing paper filigree for almost 30 years.  Filigree is also a major component in her jewelry work, which she has been doing for almost 15 years. Currently her work can be found in Lancaster at Veleska Jewelry and the PGC’s Guild Store, in Reading at the Reading Public Museum Gift Shop, and on her website, www.lisagallagher.com.  She also attends several craft shows during the year.
