Rings from PMC – April 7

April 7 – Sat, 10 am to 6 pm

Location: GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, Reading (Directions)

Instructor: Wendy Schuster

Skill Level: Skill Builder/Intermediate

Build upon your knowledge in PMC by making something everybody loves and can’t get enough of—rings.  You can stack ‘em, wear them on any finger, even on your toes!   Wendy Schuster covers two methods in PMC ring construction: a simple overlap technique and a slightly more challenging butt joint technique, which has no visible interior seam.  The workshop covers stamping, texturing, setting heat safe stones, sizing, antiquing and polishing.

Instructor’s extensive supply of stamps, molds, textures, and tool kits are available to students during class time.  By the end of this workshop students will have at least two one-of-a-kind fine silver rings.  (Number of rings that can be made from allotted material will depend on ring size.)

Some pieces may need to be mailed due to individual work pace and firing time.  Instructor will ask for $4.50 from individual’s requesting this service, which will cover packaging, postage and insurance.

Taking the Precious Metal Clay class on March 3, prior to this advanced technique will be helpful, but is not required.

Materials Fee: A materials fee*  (generally $50 – $80) made payable to the instructor at the time of the class for 25 grams of PMC3 and other supplies. Additional PMC may be available for purchase.  In order to alleviate expense, instructor is happy to offer 1/2 packages of clay at an adjusted rate.

*Price may change based on the current fluctuations in the silver market.
