Welding & Metalwork – February 26

Skill Level: Introductory/Refresher – no experience necessary

This hands on course focuses primarily on welding and cutting metal, using electric arc and MIG welding processes, and working with a Plasma Cutter.  With an emphasis on safety, the course includes general use of metal working hand tools.  The class will be conducted in a small group setting, accepting no more than 4 students to allow for focused and direct instruction.  Students may elect to develop and improve welding and cutting skills, or they may choose to work on a focused project creating a home or garden sculpture.

Tools are provided for student use during the class.

Materials Fee: TBA (due to market fluctuations – to cover the cost of metal)

Bio: George Mummert is a sculptor, designer and art educator. He is the founder of the Keystone Art & Culture Center in Lancaster. Nationally recognized his works can be seen at the Smithsonian and a number of college campuses including Yale University.  An expert foundryman and metalworking artist he enjoys sharing with others the world of possibilities available through engaging in the arts.
