• A Day to Dye For - Naturally!
    September 14, 2018
    10:00 am - 4:00 pm
We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.

Instructor: Carol Reed

Skill Level: All Skill Levels

Join us for a day of exploring dyeing with locally grown plants and foraged dye material.  We will transfix color from plants many ways: through bundle dyeing – free form layering of petals and leaves, putting color on cloth by hammering using India Flints “Hapa Zome” technique and fresh leaf indigo dyeing using just harvested Indigo leaves grown in the instructor’s garden.  Fresh leaf indigo dyeing imparts a beautiful aqua color.  Natural dye essentials will be covered including mordanting, creating the dyes and care of your creations.  Students will leave with a cotton bandana, a large cotton gauze scarf (dyes pink with avocado pits), a silk scarf and a wool gauze scarf.

A materials fee of $40 is included in the tuition.
