- Fused Glass Plates & Pendants
August 22, 2020
1:30 pm - 4:00 pm
Instructor: Dan Hayward
Skill Level: All
During the class, PGC Master Artisan Dan Hayward will introduce participants to basic glass cutting and shaping techniques, including the tools and equipment used to make functional fused glass and how everyday physics and chemistry play a role in glass art. He will show examples of finished fused glass plates and pendants which include dichroic glass.
Dan will then turn them loose with a wide assortment of fusing glass, which may be used to make small plates, as well as with dichroic glass and pre-cut bases (e.g., diamonds, circles, rectangles) to complete small items suitable as pendants or earrings – or even refrigerator magnets.
Each participant should be able to create both one or more plates and several kiln-firing-ready pendant-sized pieces.
At the conclusion of the class, the instructor will take the finished pieces to his studio to fire in his kiln, glue bails to the back of pendants, and return them to PGC for pickup.
All tools and supplies, kiln firing, and bail installation are included in the price.
