Skill Level: Beginner

In the morning students will help make an organic indigo vat using local honey and a synthetic vat. While the indigo vat is reducing, we’ll explore the basics of Shibori, an ancient Japanese resist technique on cloth. Students will use bound, clamped and sewn methods to pattern cotton and silk.   Students will take home their shibori samples and a cotton infinity scarf they will dye. The class will also experiment with leaves from indigo plants grown by the instructor.

One day class: 10:30 – 12:30, Lunch break, 1:30 – 3:30

**** Please note **** A materials fee of $20 is due to the instructor at the time of the class.

Cancellation/Refund Policy: 

The Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen does not provide cash refunds for cancellation of classes unless the class is canceled by the instructor or the Guild. In order to request a withdrawal from a workshop, students must contact the Guild by phone at 717-431-8706 or email handmade@pacrafts.org at least 7 days before the class. Students who request a withdrawal at least 7 days prior to the class will receive a 100% tuition class credit.

Please note that we are unable to provide refunds for missed classes due to personal scheduling conflicts.
