When we were young, we drew what we imagined, telling stories, and sharing ideas of what we experienced around us.
As we progressed through school, we learned techniques that helped us reflect visual accuracy, but in many cases, the stories were lost as we focused on doing art “well.”
With the medium of clay monoprints, many of the traditional art skills that some struggle with can be placed aside, and instead, we’ll focus on more innate, tactile techniques.
In session one, we’ll explore those techniques and learn the basics with our first prints. When we return, we’ll plan how to use them for the desired end, and by our third gathering, we’ll be telling our own stories in clay.
Each monoprint you make influences the next, all while using clay, an art tool used for thousands of years. (And formed over vast periods!)
You’ll find that while exploring these monoprints, you’ll enjoy making art and stories without having to worry about any errant brushstrokes.
You’ll leave each session with a completed print, and have fun doing so.
